Harvard Coalition Chapter Hosts Community Viewing and Discussion for “Portraits of Freedom” Exhibition
March 29, 2024
At 6:30pm on Friday, March 29th, 2024, the Harvard Chapter of the Coalition of Students Resisting the CCP welcomed around 30 Boston community members to Harvard University’s Cabot Discovery Bar for a Community Exhibition Viewing and Discussion of the Portraits of Freedom photo exhibition.
Four Harvard Coalition members and two Boston-area Coalition members began the event with a presentation on the Tibetan, Taiwanese, Uyghur, and Chinese freedom movements, and a Hong Kong Coalition member joined via video call to present the Hong Kong freedom movement. Following this educational session, event attendees browsed the photo exhibition while enjoying Uyghur laghman noodles from Ali’s Uyghur Kitchen and Taiwanese braised pork with rice cooked by a Coalition member.
The event concluded with a fruitful discussion reflecting on the role of womxn in our freedom movements, the meanings of freedom, and the future of cross-movement collaboration. Many event attendees stayed past 8pm. Students for a Free Tibet Boston, the Boston Uyghur Association, and the Harvard Coalition Chapter engaged in tabling after the event, encouraging attendees to contact their representatives regarding Hong Kong’s Article 23 legislation, sharing fliers, and selling merch.
